What does Sisterhood mean to you?

Is it spending time in fellowship with your sisters in Christ? Is it digging into God’s word together and exploring how to live it out? Is it naming and claiming God’s call on your life with other like-hearted women? Is it a place to draw on the experience of women who’ve gone before you and pass on your precious lessons learned too? Is it walking through the good, the painful and the messy with women to hold you, lift you up in prayer and stand alongside you?

We believe that the power of the feminine heart, filled with the Holy Spirit, can be all of these… this is the Sisterhood we seek to share, and we want YOU to join us!

We know your life is BUSY!! (That’s what happens when we’re living out the rich life God gave us, right?!) So, we created a unique format where you can join your sisters once or twice a month or every week. If you have a conflict, a family commitment or are traveling one week, you won’t lose touch or “fall behind” because you’ll have an opportunity to join the following week… or when your schedule allows.

Here’s an overview of our monthly format:

1st & 3rd Tuesdays – Book Study (books, workbooks or DVD studies)

2nd Tuesday – IF Table (monthly IF questions & small group discussion)

4th Tuesday – Propel Women (Passion, Purpose & Personal Leadership Series)

5th Tuesday – Potluck & Prayer

Bonus: These sessions involve little or no homework — making it even easier to attend & guilt free 🙂 Join us for the kickoff Tuesday, September 13 with a potluck social.

If you would like to join us, click here to register.

End of Year Giving

Dear friends and members of MCC:

WOW! What a year this has been! Remember what we were doing last year at this time – scrambling to get floors down in our new addition and trying to figure out how we could get from the worship center to our cars without tracking too much mud and sheet rock dust along the way? One year later it’s a far different scene. Our church is healthy, growing, and certainly making fewer messes as we move around.

Because of God’s faithfulness and your generosity, we’re also doing very well financially. Bills are paid, missionaries are supported, ministry is thriving, and giving is even ahead of where it was at this time last year. That was our prayer, our goal, and our hope. Now it’s become our reality. If we continue like this, we’ll be poised to experience a year of ministry like no other in MCC’s almost 50-year history.

WAY TO GO, CHURCH! We’re headed in a fantastic and exciting direction on all fronts.

Christmas is a time when many in our congregation like to give special, year-end gifts in addition to their regular support of our general ministry budget. We’re often asked how folks might do that and where they might direct those gifts.

If you’re not in a position to give a year-end contribution, be assured that your most important giving has already been done – that’s your regular tithes and offerings to the Lord throughout the year. And you ROCK for that faithful sacrifice. But if you’ve been extra blessed this year and want to share that blessing in a fun and creative way, perhaps a contribution toward the further enhancement of our new facilities would be something to consider. One way to do that is through the funding of some of the things we postponed during initial construction. I’ve included the approximate total costs of 7 projects the staff and Leadership team would love to tackle. Of course, you may contribute all or any part of that cost.

  1. Solve the echo in the youth room $10,000;
  2. Purchase and install signage $5,000;
  3. Upstairs coffee bar $15,000;
  4. Upstairs lobby furnishings $7,000;
  5. Lower lobby furnishings $5,000;
  6. New office carpeting $4,000;
  7. New playground equipment $3,000.

Additionally, we’d love to begin (or finish) the retirement of the approx. $450,000 debt on our new building.

If you’re interested in addressing any of these items, please note which by writing, “building enhancement” or “debt reduction” in the “memo” section of your check. Oh, and don’t forget that in order for your gift to be tax deductible for 2014, it must be either postmarked or received by December 31st.

Thanks for considering this. It’s pretty exciting to think of the possibility of celebrating our one year anniversary in our new facility by getting some of the things done that we thought we’d have to put off and/or do over time.

Have fun considering the ways you’ll bless our fellowship and further our ministries. Your generosity is astounding and HUGELY effective.

Blessed to be able to serve alongside you,

Pastors Art, Ben, Jeff and the MCC Leadership Team

Adult Electives Available:
1. Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll – Ben Kerns
Some things never change. Each generation of parents have the challenge of figuring out how to help their kids navigate (or be prepared to navigate) the culture in which they live and breathe. This class will help parents of all ages equip their kids to walk through the today’s world of sexuality, drugs and alcohol, and media.

2. What Is So Unique About Jesus? — Dan Nichols
Who was Jesus, really? What made him or makes him so singularly different than anyone in history (so claim Christians)? This is going to be an interactive-dynamic class on everything imaginable about Jesus. Not only will we consider the uniqueness of Jesus, but we’ll look at the divinity, the exclusivity, the historicity, and the humanity of this man who walked in Palestine 2000 years ago. Also, we’ll study the radical events of his life from the virgin birth to the resurrection from the tomb.

3. “The Sign of Jonah”: An in-depth Bible study on Matthew 12:38-42 — Arv Kretz
Jonah had no idea his disobedience to God, and subsequent rescue by a big fish, would come to symbolize THE watershed event in world history — The death and resurrection of Jesus.
This class will be an in-depth study of Jesus’s fascinating teaching in Matthew 12. If you love opening the scriptures, asking all the hard questions, learning all about the cultural context, and mining Jesus’ teaching for all it’s worth, you will love this experience.

4. A SOLUTIONS Mini-Course: How Do We Deal With Conflict? — Donna Kramer
Conflict is a distracting and stressful reality in every one of our lives, and in the lives of those we love. Leaving it unresolved is a recipe for disaster in so many ways. The class will teach us to help ourselves and help others healthfully navigate and resolve conflict in our lives. We’ll give you guidance in how to avoid detours and dead-ends by understanding the anatomy of conflict and dealing with difficult people. And we’ll give you sign posts that will help re-route you on a constructive road to resolution and reconciliation.

5. Spiritual Formation for Dummies — Jeff Mazzariello
God wants to grow us… to form us… to lead us… to heal us… to form us by the Holy Spirit. This is a foundational concept in the scriptures. But the truth is, most of us aren’t in touch with the state of our hearts and souls. Nor, if we were honest, would we know what to do next to grow. This class will help us learn the ABC’s of encountering God.

Hope to see you there!
