2014 Mexico Missions Experience: February 15-23, 2014

An ADULT MEXICO MISSIONS TRIP to the Hogar Para Los Ninos orphanage of Foundation For His Ministry (FFHM) in Vicente Guerrero on the Baja in Mexico; scheduled for February 15-23, 2014. This is an opportunity for young adults, adults and interested staff from Hamilton School and Marin Covenant Church to experience the poverty and hope of the mission and its’ surrounding communities.

The orphanage that we will be serving is located 5 hours south of the US border; our trip into and through Mexico is a safe journey, traveling on major roads and in caravan with one another. The details regarding the 2013 Mexico Missions Application, 2013 Mexico Missions Experience Planning Schedule,2013 Fundraising Info, and Baja Mission Info Pkt-Revised FEB 2010 are hot-linked here.

The purpose of our trip is threefold: First, we will encourage those we encounter. Our presence will bolster their spirits and support their work. We will have the opportunity to visit small villages and migratory settlements providing those in poverty living there with physical help, food and a witness to the hope that we have in God. Second, we will gain a better understanding of those trapped in poverty in another culture and how our lives can be used to help them and others. Third, this journey will broaden our horizons, enriching us personally as compassion grows in own our lives.

JOURNEYS TOWARD Alpha STARTS April 3, 2013

   JOURNEYS TOWARD Alpha

JOURNEYS … is designed especially for people who are spectators, looking in on the Christian faith, and wanting to know more. It examines the Christian faith through real people, amazing stories and changed lives. It looks at some foundational aspects of faith, primarily through the eyes and lives of people who have experienced its power and influence over their lives.

The purpose of Journeys is to get spectators to the point where they can make informed choices about whether Christianity is what they want to embrace. The people you’ll hear from, and those stories you’ll watch, are down to earth, and realistic about life. They don’t paint a cherubic, sugar-coated picture of life as a Christian, but they do explain the wide ranging benefits of embracing a relationship with God.

Alpha … The Alpha Course is an opportunity for anyone to explore spirituality from a Christian perspective. Relaxed, non-threatening, low-key, and fun, Alpha is a place to ask anything—no question too simple, nor too complex, nor too hostile. A place for everyone and anyone to explore the meaning of life … to meet new friends … to enjoy great food … to be part of wonderful conversations in a safe place … a place where your questions about your spiritual journey can be voiced.

JOURNEYS TOWARD Alpha is …

Exploring faith in the 21st century, this is a blended video-based opportunity for anyone to explore spirituality from Christian perspectives. Each session includes dinner, videos, dessert and small group discussion.

A Typical Evening looks like:

6:00 pm Guests arrive for dinner

Thanksgiving Dinner: November 22nd

We can trace this historic American Christian tradition to the year 1623. After the harvest crops were gathered in November 1623, Governor William Bradford of the 1620 Pilgrim Colony, “Plymouth Plantation” in Plymouth, Massachusetts proclaimed:

“All ye Pilgrims with your wives and little ones, do gather at the Meeting House, on the hill… there to listen to the pastor, and render Thanksgiving to the Almighty God for all His blessings.”

This Thanksgiving, will you make your home a “meeting house on the hill?”

This is a great opportunity for you and I to reach out to those who are less fortunate than we are. Do you have room at your table and in your heart this year to invite someone or family who will be alone this Thanksgiving? If you do, would you please email us: outreach@marincovenant.org

And if you know of someone that needs the company of others for Thanksgiving, either email us so that we can connect them with someone who is opening their Thanksgiving table OR invite them to your Thanksgiving festivities.

And may you and your household be blessed.
